Riding Lessons

Brawley Farms North offers hunter/jumper riding lessons for students ages 5 and older in a supportive, professional barn environment. Our lesson program is designed to help riders build confidence, develop correct fundamentals, and grow their understanding of horses both in and out of the saddle.

We welcome a range of experience levels, from young beginners learning to groom, tack up, steer, and post the trot, to more experienced riders working on flatwork, jumping, course work, and show preparation. Each rider is taught at a pace that supports their individual confidence, ability, and goals. For beginning students, Brawley Farms North provides trusted school horses and all necessary tack.

A Program Built Around Confidence, Safety, and Horsemanship

At Brawley Farms North, lessons are about more than learning how to ride. Students are taught to become thoughtful and capable horsemen and horsewomen through an emphasis on safety, responsibility, and respect for the horse. Riders learn the importance of proper horse handling, grooming, tacking, communication, and care as part of their overall education.

Our instructors focus on creating a strong foundation before asking riders to move forward. As students progress, lessons continue to build on balance, position, control, feel, and confidence. Whether a rider is learning the basics or preparing for more advanced hunter/jumper work, the goal is to create riders who are capable, confident, and connected to the horses they ride.

Lease Horse Options

For riders who are ready to take the next step beyond lesson horses and the basics, Brawley Farms North offers lease horse options as part of the continued development of their riding program. Leasing can be a valuable bridge between taking lessons and owning a horse, giving riders the opportunity to build a stronger partnership with one horse while continuing to learn in a supported environment.

Through leasing, riders can gain more consistency in their riding, develop a deeper understanding of horse care, and begin learning the responsibility that comes with having a horse of their own. This added experience helps riders grow in confidence while preparing them for the next stage of their riding journey.

Lease horses also open the door for riders to participate in additional opportunities, including riding clinics and horse shows. Whether a rider’s goal is to continue building confidence, prepare for competition, or eventually move toward horse ownership, lease options provide an important next step. Brawley Farms North helps guide riders and families through that process with thoughtful instruction, professional support, and a focus on long-term growth.

Preparing Riders for the Horse Show Ring

For riders interested in competing, we help students build the skills, confidence, and preparation needed to enter the horse show ring successfully. Our lesson program supports riders as they develop correct position, effective communication, course work, flatwork, and confidence in a new and more challenging environment.

Horse show preparation is about more than learning a course or riding over jumps. Riders are taught how to present themselves and their horses professionally, understand show-ring expectations, manage nerves, and build the consistency needed for a positive show experience. Lessons may focus on equitation, rhythm, pace, track, transitions, jumping exercises, and the details that help riders feel prepared from the warm-up ring to the show ring.

Whether a rider is preparing for their first local show or working toward more competitive goals, we provide guidance and support throughout the process. Our riders have the opportunity to compete on the local and A-rated circuit through the United States Hunter/Jumper Association (USHJA), giving students a path to grow into more advanced competition when ready.

Lesson Options and Scheduling

Brawley Farms North offers private lessons, group lessons, and individual training depending on the rider’s age, experience, and goals. Newer riders often benefit from private instruction as they build independence and confidence. As riders become more comfortable and capable, they may have the opportunity to join group lessons, where they can continue learning in a structured and encouraging environment alongside other students.

Lessons are offered Tuesday through Saturday, with daytime and evening options available depending on scheduling and program availability. To learn more about the lesson program, availability, and whether Brawley Farms North is the right fit for your rider, please contact us directly.
